At Audanika we are working at a system that allows SoundPrism to teach itself to the player. This tutorial framework will show you — step by step — how to play and compose with SoundPrism.
In that context I had an interesting discussion with my brother David this morning. David is a music teacher, co-founder and musical consultant of Audanika.
We discussed the objective of our tutorial system. My Brother: „Our goal should be to teach music theory!“. I replied: „No, I think we should help people to compose or create better music.“ After a short discussion we concluded that any music theory — as beautiful as it might be — is useless if it doesn‘t help to improve musical skills.
From our education we are used to be confronted with theories and after that we are told where to apply the acquired knowledge. But life teaches us in the opposite way: typically we first make experiences and after that we find the formulas that describe what we experienced. Knowledge acquired in that way is internalized more easily. It is related to the reality and not to a theory. It is colorful, not black and white. Therefore when developing tutorials we want to make sure that the player of SoundPrism mainly makes musical experiences. Teaching of music-theoretical knowledge will only play a role when it directly helps to improve the playing and the composition skills of the player.
“then i began to experiment with sounds via an incredible iphone/ipad app that i’ve mentioned many times before — soundprism pro. truly a favorite of mine. soundprism was used all over the place throughout yearbook, and for songs like this, it was an essential part of my writing and recording process.”—http://sleepingatlast.com/segue-how-it-was-made/
Additional screen designs (bright and dark) have been removed in SoundPrism and SoundPrism Pro 2.5. We’ve made that decision because we’d rather focus on improving SoundPrism’s interface and features instead of spending time with ensuring compatibility of non-essential features.
We’re giving you new soundpacks for each screen design that are only available to those who bought a screen design in version 2.4.1 or earlier. You can access them by deleting SoundPrism (Pro), reinstalling it and chosing “Restore Purchases” from the store menu.
We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.
We’re receiving many requests from users who want to know if we’re planning for Audiobus to be able to send audio to a Mac or a PC. They’re asking for VST plugins, Audio Units etc. We know you want this to happen. We do as well. It’s possible to create desktop software to receive audio output from…
Wanna see how the sausage gets made? No? Too bad, I’m showing you anyway.
When I first built the prototype for Audiobus, it was receiving from only one source at a time, which made it pretty simple to handle - just buffer the audio coming in over the communications system and pump it out the…
